One of my favorite songs from The Sound of Music is “My Favorite Things.”
There’s something I’ve always loved about the idea behind it: when life feels difficult or ordinary, there is still comfort to be found in remembering the things that bring you joy.
It makes me think about something else, too.

Somewhere along the way, adulthood can become very focused on being practical. We have responsibilities and routines, calendars and errands, things to accomplish and things to keep track of. And, of course, those things matter.
But I don't think they should be the whole story.
I still want to be delighted by beautiful flowers.
I want to get excited about a pretty little object simply because I like it.
I want to make something with my hands and feel that small satisfaction of I made this.
I want to sit around a table with people I love and have an ordinary afternoon somehow turn into a memory.
I want to notice the colors of a sunset, discover a song I can't stop playing, write something down because I don't want to forget it, and occasionally do something simply because it sounds fun.
Adults deserve to be delighted, too.
We deserve to be surprised by beauty.
We deserve little things that make us pause and think, “Oh, I love this.”
That is part of what I hope Bloomicity can be.
A place for little joys.
For creativity and connection.
For beautiful things made and found.
For experiences that make an ordinary day feel a little more memorable.
And, perhaps most of all, a reminder that life can still have a sense of wonder.
I want to notice more, make more, connect more, and keep becoming.
And maybe, every now and then, to romanticize life a little.
So this is the beginning.
I'm so happy you're here.
